KAYAK’s First Loyalty Program: Explorer

WHAT: One of my first responsibilities when joining KAYAK in 2020 was to conceptualize and execute the branding of the Company’s first loyalty program. After ideating, user testing and winning high-level stakeholder approval, my concept “Explorer” was approved.

CHALLENGE: Create and sustain a program of copy combining mobile push notifications, e-mail campaigns, and landing pages to demonstrate how to use and enroll in the Explorer loyalty program.

A push to onboard.

The video to your left is an example of a push notification being sent to a traveler, encouraging them to sign-in to their KAYAK account and sign-up for our loyalty program, Explorer.

Conclusions:

  • 377,000 users signed up.  Or 3% of ALL Android and iOS users.

  • Baked in security features into the flow so it wasn’t a separate step

  • Learning:  Bite-sized, visual onboarding is the most effective and converts.
