The User Problem
For Sellers on eBay, after a Buyer wins an auction, they are given a 4 day grace period to remit payment and complete their transaction. However, up to 36% of transactions were left unpaid costing both the platform and sellers a significant amount of revenue.
Our Solution
To help reduce these UPI transactions, my team was tasked with developing the messaging and onboarding flow explaining the setting of a default payment method.
With a default payment method set, payments would be automatically charged once the grace period window expired.
The result, after one quarter of going live, was an 18% reduction in overall UPI for Auctions.
